Lady Antebellum Earns Tony Awards Nomination For “SpongeBob SquarePants Musical”

Lady Antebellum has earned their very first Tony Award nomination. The country trio’s latest tune, “Chop to the Top,” is included on the album, Spongebob Squarepants: Original Cast Recording. Lady Antebellum’s Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley, and Hillary Scott were presented with an opportunity a few years ago to write the song for Spongebob Squarepants the musical. The Broadway show opened back in December and is now nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical.

Jason Aldean Returns To No. 1 On Billboard Artist 100 Chart

Jason Aldean’s “You Make It Easy” ascended to #1 on Billboard‘s Country Airplay in the week ending April 29, according to Nielsen Music. Aldean earns his 18th Country Airplay No. 1, which ranks him in 12th place for the most leaders since the chart began in 1990. The track is the first single from Aldean’s new LP Rearview Town, which leads Top Country Albums for a second week. This marks Aldean’s third-fastest trip to the top.

Kacey Musgraves Debuts ‘Space Cowboy’ Music Video

Kacey Musgraves has just released the music video for her latest single “Space Cowboy.”  The track is taken from the 29-year-old country singer’s third studio album, Golden Hour, which was released back in March. Directed by Courtney Phillips, the clip follows said “Space Cowboy” on horseback, riding the dirt roads of Mexico City.  On the horizon for Kacey, she will be joining Harry Styles‘ 2018 tour on May 6 in Dallas, and she will make her Saturday Night Live debut as the musical guest on May 12.

Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean And Other Performers Offering $20 Concert Tickets This Week

Many country singers are taking part in National Concert Week, a $20 a ticket promotion to see more than a dozen headliners this summer. The $20 ticket price is the all-in price, which means taxes and the normal fees are included in that price. National Concert Week is through Live Nation, and the full list of acts involved number in the dozens. Only certain seats are included, and you’ll need to check your local venue for more information. Several of country music’s hottest artists are part of the program: catch Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Shania Twain for just $20; all In all, more than five million tickets to 2,000 concerts will be offered at $20.  You can find details at the National Concert Week website.

Kenny Chesney Announces ‘Songs for the Saints’ Album

Kenny Chesney announced details of his upcoming 12-song project, Songs for the Saints. Set for release on July 27, the record will cover many life changes Chesney has gone through in the past several years. “So much has happened since I went off the road in 2016,” Chesney shared in a press release. “And all of it, in one way or another, has ended up on this record. It’s special to me because of what it says – to me, and for me – about life, the world around us, how fragile it all can be and about somehow still finding the best parts of you, and moving towards them.”  Chesney wrote or co-wrote five tracks featured on Songs for the Saints. The project will feature first time songwriters and surprise collaborations.

Maren Morris And Zedd Perform ‘The Middle’ Together Live For First Time

On Saturday, April 28, Maren Morris went on stage at OMNIA in Las Vegas to join Zedd to perform ‘The Middle.”  The song is is currently at No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it’s spent 12 weeks on the chart since its January debut and the premiere of its visual at the 2018 Grammy Awards. Morris and Zedd enjoyed the performance and Morris later commented that it was her “first time hearing the song this loud” after the sun came up in Sin City. Dierks Bentley & Del McCoury Sing The National Anthem Before Game 1 Of The Nashville Predators 2nd Round Playoff Series

Before Game 1 of the Nashville Predators second round playoff series versus the Winnipeg Jets on April 27, Dierks Bentley and bluegrass great Del McCoury teamed up to perform the National Anthem. Dierks also had the honor of singing the anthem during the Preds 2017 playoff run. During the Nashville Predators 2018 playoff run, which began on April 12 against the Colorado Avalanche, Rascal Flatts had the honor of singing the national anthem before Game 1, while Brad Paisley and Maren Morris handled the duties before Game 2 on April 14 and Game 5 on April 20, respectively. Brantley Gilbert To Raise Funds For Waffle House Shooting Hero At Nashville Orchestra Concert

At an impromptu press conference on Wednesday, April 25, country star Brantley Gilbert announced plans to give back to the Nashville community following the mass shooting that took place in a Waffle House on Sunday (April 23). During the massacre, a gunman claimed the lives of four people before 29-year-old customer James Shaw Jr. wrestled the gun away from the shooter, causing him to flee the scene. Shaw has since been heralded as a hero, and he also subsequently organized a GoFundMe page to assist victims of the shooting, which quickly met its $15,000 goal. When Gilbert heard Shaw’s story, he felt compelled to get involved: “When you see someone like James, who just jumped up and did what he did — and you think about the lives he saved, you realize what a special kind of guy he is,” the country singer said in a press release. Gilbert and his manager created a special design for T-shirts that read “I Believe in Heroism,” which will be sold at Gilbert’s May 4 performance. Joining Gilbert at the press conference was rock group Dashboard Confessional’s frontman Chris Carrabba, who also pledged to sell the T-shirts at his May 11 appearance at the Ryman auditorium.

Old Dominion Add More Dates To Their “Happy Endings” Tour

Old Dominion have extended their tour dates to hit more cities across the U.S. and U.K. through fall and winter 2018. The band will end 2018 with stops at several arenas in major cities — Dublin, London, Belfast, Glasgow and more in the U.K. — and Knoxville, Tenn., Rochester, N.Y., Bismarck, N.D. and Las Cruces, N.M. from October to December. Old Dominion are bringing returning opening act Michael Ray on the road, along some up-and-coming artists: Walker Hayes, Granger Smith and the duo High Valley. The band have scored back-to-back No. 1 singles with “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart” and “Written in the Sand,” in addition to earning their first win at the ACM Awards for Vocal Group of the Year. The second leg of the Happy Endings Tour begins on Oct. 4 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.  Full list of tour dates are linked in the article below.
