Netflix Cancels Marvel Show “Luke Cage” After Two Seasons

Just days after cancelling Iron Fist, Netflix has also cancelled Luke Cage, cutting the Marvel universe in half. Marvel and Netflix announced, “Unfortunately, Marvel’s Luke Cage will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”  Though Marvel and Netflix did not disclose a reason for cancelling “Luke Cage,” sources say it was not due to low ratings.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, “the cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show,” even though principal cast members had already been signed up.

In an Instagram post, actress Selma Blair announced that she has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Blair revealed she was diagnosed in August, and is facing the effects of the disease everyday. Blair, 46, said she’s had symptoms for years, and thanked her producers at her new Netflix show for being understanding. She said she hopes “to give some hope to others. And even to myself,” and encourage people to ask for help when they need it. Blair posted on her Instagram, “I am disabled. I fall sometimes. I drop things. My memory is foggy. And my left side is asking for directions from a broken gps. But we are doing it. And I laugh and I don’t know exactly what I will do precisely but I will do my best.” Multiple sclerosis is a neurological disease that occurs when there’s a breakdown in communication between the brain and other parts of the body. Symptoms include blurred vision, and difficulty with coordination and balance.

Amy Schumer Boycotting Super Bowl By Refusing Commercial Offers

As a way to support former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and the movement he started, comedian and actress Amy Schumer announced on Instagram that she would not appear in Super Bowl ads this year. “I personally told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year,” Schumer wrote. Schumer, who appeared in a Bud Light Super Bowl ad two years ago, also called on white NFL players to kneel during the national anthem in support. Meanwhile, a Super Bowl musical act for the halftime show hasn’t officially been named, but it has been reported that Maroon 5 will headline this year’s performance. Multiple reports earlier this week revealed that Rihanna turned down an invitation to perform at the halftime show because she also supported Kaepernick. Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2016 and initiated the protest that season when he was the San Franciscio 49ers’ quarterback.

Ratings For “The Conners” Debut Fall Short Of “Roseanne” Premiere Episode

ABC’s The Conners didn’t come close to the blockbuster premiere rating of its predecessor, the reboot of Roseanne, but the new series did have strong numbers that led Tuesday night in the ratings. The debut airing delivered 10.5 million viewers and a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49. While that is down 55% from the premiere of Roseanne last spring, it managed to edge out NBC’s This Is Us for the night. ABC did not expect Roseanne premiere-level numbers, and it was predicted that audience interest in the spin-off was about half that of viewer interest in Roseanne before its return. The debut episode, titled “Keep on Trucking,” confirmed previous reports that Roseanne Conner died of an opioid overdose. Roseanne Barr said in a statement that the “opioid overdose lent an unnecessary grim and morbid dimension to an otherwise happy family show.”

Sesame Street’s Original Big Bird Actor, Caroll Spinney, Retiring After 50 Years

Caroll Spinney, the puppeteer who has brought Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch to life since Sesame Street’s premiere in 1969, is retiring from the iconic roles after nearly 50 years. Since then, he’s starred in hundreds of episodes of the show, winning the Legacy for Children Award in 2003 and The Christopher’s James Keller Award in 2004. His life and career were documented in the 2014 film “I Am Big Bird.”

Tara Reid Offers Explanation After Being Kicked Off Delta Flight For Disturbance Before Takeoff

Tara Reid made headlines when it was reported that she was removed from her flight from LAX to New York City this week, coming after reports of a “disagreement with flight attendants.” But now Reid is explaining her side of the story. “They wouldn’t let the dog sit next to me, so I wasn’t going to stay on the plane,” said Reid. “Of course everyone made a big deal about it… I’m kind of used to that in my life. They always kind of pick on me.” Video of Reid being asked to leave the plane was posted on TMZ and other websites, and initial reports said that Reid was upset that she was given the wrong seat, and not given a pillow. Meanwhile, Reid is back to work, and the actress posted a photo of herself on a movie set with director Steve Stanulis on Tuesday. “On the set of ‘Fifth Borough’ with my amazing director Steve Stanulis!” Reid captioned the picture, which featured the star smiling as Stanulis hugged her.

Lady Gaga Confirms Her Engagement To Christian Carino

Lady Gaga revealed she is engaged to talent agent Christian Carino during a speech at Elle’s Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration Monday. Gaga was among those honored at the gathering and at the end of her speech she began to thank people, including Carino.  She alluded to the engagement subtly, saying, “Thank you, Elle. Thank you all the loved ones in my life. … Everybody at table 5. My fiancé Christian.”  This is the first time she has acknowledged that the couple are engaged, though there has been speculation for some time now. Gaga, 32, and Carino, 49, have been dating since early 2017. They were first spotted together on the football field ahead of her Super Bowl LI halftime performance in Houston that February. Gaga and Carino – who is a talent agent that represents such big names as Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lopez — have been very private about their relationship.
