The cast of “Bobbi Kristina” says the film comes from “a place of love and respect”

It’s only been two short years since the untimely death of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown‘s daughter, Bobbi Kristina.

Sunday, TV One will attempt to bring her tumultuous story to life with their original movie, Bobbi Kristina.

While the film’s expected to honor Bobbi Kristina’s legacy, it’s come under intense criticism from Bobby Brown.

Vivica A. Fox, who plays Pat Houston in the biopic, says she spoke to Brown.

“I did see Bobby and he let me know he wasn’t happy with us doing the film,” Fox tells ABC Radio.

“And my reaction to him was, ‘Bobby, give it a chance. Trust me. Knowing that the majority of the cast knows you — has respect and love for you and Whitney — we’re not going to do nothing to make you look bad.'”

Fox says Brown’s reaction was “him being a natural protective father.”

She says TV One also “reached out and communicated with him to look at the film.”

Hassan Johnson, who plays Brown in the film, agrees with Foxas, adding that Brown should understand that the film comes from “a place of love…and.. respect.”

“I came with all the sincerity and consideration in the world, for what Bobbi has been through, with the loss of his wife and his daughter,” Johnson explains.

“So I just felt like it was a duty to do him some justice and to represent.”

For the youngest star of the film, Joy Rovaris, who plays Bobbi Kristina, the biopic was a “personal” project.

“I’ve always been such a Whitney fan that…it felt personal to me,” she explained.

“I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything exploitative or that would shed a bad light.”

Bobbi Kristina airs Sunday, October 8 at 7 p.m. ET on TV One.

Tyrese blames The Rock for delaying the Fast and Furious sequel

ABC/Jeff NeiraTyrese Gibson is calling out his Fast and Furious co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for delaying the franchise’s upcoming installment and “making [it] all about” him.

After Universal Pictures postponed the release date of Fast and Furious 9 from April 2019 to April 2020, Gibson suggested in an online post that the film’s delay was a result of Johnson’s potential Furiousspinoff, focusing on his character Luke Hobbs.

“#PSA Congratulations to @TheRock and your brother in law aka 7 bucks producing partner @hhgarcia41 for making the fast and the furious franchise about YOU,” Gibson wrote on Instagram, captioning an image that announced the new F9 date.

He continued, “And like you, DJ even if they call I will not be deleting this post – Gn folks see you in 2020 April #FastFamily right? Nah… it’s about #TeamDwayne.”

Gibson concluded, “#3yrs will it be worth the wait? #NoShaw just Hobbs will this be another #Baywatch? Guys guys just relax I’m just a passionate film critic.”

Tyrese’s comments comes after he offered The Rock some strong words concerning his potential Fast and Furious spinoff last month.

“If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my Sprinter,” Gibson wrote in a since-deleted comment on Rock’s Instagram page that was captured by The Shade Room.

“I don’t wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I’m on your timeline cause you’re not responding to my text messages — #FastFamily is just that a family…….. We don’t fly solo.”

On “The Real,” Tina Campbell responds to backlash over her vote for Donald Trump

ABC/Ida Mae AstuteGospel singer Tina Campbell continues to backlash from fans thanks to a recent interview with The Root in which she explains why she voted for Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton.

She addressed the issue again on Thursday’s episode of The Real.

As previously reported, Tina’s sister Erica Campbell came to her defense on social media recently, telling fans to refer back to an open letter Tina wrote on Facebook at the beginning of the year, which details her reasons for supporting Trump.

On Thursday’s The Real, both Tina and Erica appeared on the show, and Tina stated, “What I said is, if during your campaign what you said appealed to me and it appealed to my Christian values, more than the other candidate, then when it comes down to it, I chose based on my faith.”

She continued, “I didn’t really like either one of the candidates, if I could just be honest, but it was two people that had the chance of winning and so I voted based on my faith.”

“Do I agree with everything that’s being done and being said? No. Do I promote and advocate any of that? No. And do I choose to give any more of my time to anybody that has an opinion about my right to vote and who I vote for and what behind it? Not at all.”

Tina went on to say that she is “upset with the things that [Trump]’s doing in this country” and established that in her Facebook letter. She also added, “I ain’t out campaigning for nobody but Jesus.”

Nick Cannon refuses to apologize to Catholic university that found his comedy routine offensive

ABC RadioNick Cannon says he’s not apologizing to a Catholic university in New Jersey after school officials called his comedy routine offensive.

Cannon, who preformed over the weekend as part of Georgian Court University’s homecoming festivities, tweeted University President Joseph R. Marbach‘s email that went out to staff and students about Cannon’s performance.

“I want to acknowledge out profound disappointment with Nick Cannon, the featured artist for this past Saturday’s comedy showcase,” the email reads.

“Mr. Cannon blatantly disregarded the terms of our contract, and much of his act ran counter to what we stand for at GCU.”

The message continues: “While comedy often explores serious social issues in ways that are fun and thought-provoking, Mr. Cannon’s act crossed the line.”

“His words were offensive and do not represent our Mercy core values. For that, we are deeply sorry, and the university has demanded an official apology from the artist and his representatives.”

Cannon responded the the message in his tweet, writing, “I ain’t apologizing for S*** LOL… wait, I’m sorry your university doesn’t believe in freedom of speech!!!”

In a statement obtained by USA Today, Marbach elaborated on his comments, saying Cannon was asked to “avoid vulgarity and explicit sexual content in his performance.”

“Unfortunately, he repeatedly chose to ignore this request,” Marbach said in the statement.

“Throughout his career, Mr. Cannon has appealed to a variety audiences on Nickelodeon, MTV, and NBC as well as Showtime. We planned on and trusted we were getting the NBC or MTV version of Mr. Cannon. We did not. That was unfortunate.”

Earlier this year, Cannon announced he was leaving America’s Got Talent after the network reportedly threatened to fire him over a racial joke he made during his Showtime comedy special, Stand Up, Don’t Shoot.

Chrissy adds, “If he’s watching MSNBC and is excited about something, then I’ve got to be in that realm.”

The pair also aren’t afraid to poke fun at each other.
