Rita Ora Accuses Roc Nation Of Discrimination

Two years after settling her legal battle with Roc Nation, Rita Ora is accusing her former record label of discrimination. Ora explained why she felt like JAY-Z’s label discriminated against her as a woman in an interview with Britain’s Sunday Times. Ora explained, “but I do feel I got discriminated against because I was a woman. I almost felt — maybe this is just my interpretation — I could have had a better chance if I’d been male.”  Ora also said, however, that the split with Roc Nation was amicable. When she later bumped into JAY-Z and label president Jay Brown, she said they “were very cordial” in greeting her.  Ora plans to release her new single “Girls,” featuring Cardi B, Bebe Rexha, and Charli XCX on May 11 via Atlantic Records, the same day as the launch of her upcoming European “Girls Tour.”

The track was released on Spotify; it’s the very same collaboration that Kanye told fans to expect on Twitter last week. ‘Watch’ also seems to reflect some of the hot topics that Kanye has been discussing – with his verse reflecting on his 2017 battle with opioid addiction, as well as his return from the ‘sunken place’.  The track’s release comes near the end of a crazy week that has seen Kanye facing intense scrutiny for his comments on slavery in the US.
